Best Perplexity Rank Trackers
Nearly every tool claims Perplexity coverage. Here's which ones confirm it, at what price, and which surface they track.

Perplexity is the one engine in this series where almost every vendor we checked claims coverage, which is a signal in itself: Perplexity built its whole product around cited, sourced answers from the start, so it's the easiest of the four engines for a third-party tool to point at and measure. The harder question isn't whether a tool tracks Perplexity, it's whether it tracks the specific Perplexity surface you care about, since the product now spans a default search mode, Focus modes like Academic and Writing, and a separate Discover feed that behaves nothing like a search answer.
For the tactics side of this, see how to get cited in Perplexity; this post covers measurement.

How we evaluated
Same six criteria as the rest of this series: confirmed Perplexity coverage by name on the vendor's own pages, which plan tier includes it, prompt/answer volume per plan, whether pricing is public or sales-gated, reporting and export depth, and API access. This is a comparison of documented features and public pricing pages, not a hands-on test of any private dashboard, and we note anywhere a vendor's marketing copy and documentation disagreed on exactly which engines are covered. We also checked whether a tool's Perplexity pricing sits inside a broader subscription you might already own (as with SE Ranking and Ahrefs, both of which layer Perplexity tracking on top of tools many SEO teams already pay for) versus a dedicated, single-purpose AI-visibility product, since that changes the real cost of adoption even when the sticker price on a pricing page looks similar.
Perplexity isn't one surface, it's three
Most "Perplexity visibility" conversations assume there's a single Perplexity answer to track, and there isn't. The default search mode is what most trackers mean when they say "Perplexity," a sourced answer with numbered citations drawn from a live web search. Focus modes (Academic, Writing, and others Perplexity has added over time) change which sources the model is allowed to pull from, so a citation pattern that holds in default mode doesn't necessarily hold in Academic mode, which leans toward scholarly sources by design. Separately, Perplexity Discover is a feed of AI-written summary articles, closer to a content product than a search answer, and it's a different exposure channel entirely from being cited inside someone's search session.
None of the vendor pages we checked specify which of these three surfaces their tracking actually covers by default, so if your category depends heavily on one (a B2B research tool brand might care a lot about Academic mode, for instance) it's worth asking directly before you buy, rather than assuming "Perplexity" on a feature list means all three.
How these tools actually query Perplexity
Perplexity doesn't publish a simple, universally-used public API the way OpenAI or Anthropic do for pulling a consumer-equivalent chat answer, so vendors in this space take one of two routes. Some automate a real, logged-out browser session against perplexity.ai directly, on the same logic Peec AI applies to ChatGPT and Copilot: a logged-out session shows the sources and the model behavior a stranger would actually get, rather than whatever a developer-facing endpoint happens to return. Others build on Perplexity's Sonar API line, which is built for developers who want Perplexity's search-and-answer capability inside their own product, and which may not always mirror what the consumer perplexity.ai interface shows for the same prompt, the same divergence that shows up with ChatGPT's API versus its consumer app. None of the vendor pages we checked state outright which route they use for Perplexity specifically, which is a fair follow-up question if two tools' Perplexity numbers for your brand disagree and you're trying to figure out why.
The tools
Otterly.AI
Perplexity is one of Otterly's four core engines, alongside ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Copilot, included at every tier starting with Lite at $25-29/month (15 search prompts, unlimited brand reports, 50+ country support). That makes it the cheapest confirmed route to Perplexity tracking on this list. Claude and Gemini are metered add-ons if you need them later. Best for: a small team whose Perplexity tracking need overlaps with the other three core engines. Honest limitation: 15 prompts a month runs out fast across more than one or two branded terms.
SE Ranking
SE Ranking's AI Search add-on explicitly lists Perplexity among its 5 tracked engines (alongside Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, and Gemini), priced at $89/month on top of a base plan that itself starts around $103-129/month depending on billing. Notably, Copilot and Claude are not listed as covered, so this is a Perplexity-plus-Google pick specifically, not a full five-engine spread. Best for: a team already running SE Ranking for rank tracking that wants Perplexity visibility added without a separate vendor relationship. Honest limitation: the add-on cost sits on top of a base subscription you may not already have, so the real entry price is closer to $190+/month than the $89 add-on figure alone suggests.
Ahrefs Brand Radar
Ahrefs names Perplexity explicitly in its AI Visibility Index, citing roughly 29 million-plus modeled Perplexity prompts monthly as part of its broader dataset, at $199/month with 83 prompts/day and 2,500 checks/month. The cheaper $50/month Custom Prompts add-on (free with Ahrefs Lite and up) covers adding your own prompts rather than the modeled Index data, and Ahrefs' page doesn't spell out whether Perplexity is included at that lower tier, so treat the $199 tier as the confirmed path. Best for: an existing Ahrefs customer who wants Perplexity data next to keyword and backlink data they already check. Honest limitation: $199/month, on top of whatever Ahrefs already costs you, is a real step up from this list's budget options.
ZeroRank
Perplexity is one of 17 engines ZeroRank queries directly, reading back raw answers rather than modeling or inferring them, included at every tier with no add-on fee. Pricing starts at $39/month (Starter, 2,400 AI answers analyzed monthly), moving to Growth at $199/month and Agency at $499/month, unlimited seats throughout. Best for: a team that wants Perplexity tracked alongside every other major engine without negotiating per-engine access. Honest limitation: as a newer vendor, there's less independent track record on how closely its Perplexity numbers hold up over time compared to Ahrefs or Otterly.
Rankscale
Rankscale includes Perplexity among "17+ AI engines," with a stated "no per-engine upsell tiers" policy, meaning Perplexity is available on every plan. Pro starts at $99/month, Pro+ at $229/month (adds REST API access), Growth at $385/month, Enterprise at $780/month, all credit-based. Best for: an agency that wants Perplexity guaranteed across every client account without a separate per-client negotiation. Honest limitation: $99/month for the entry tier is well above Otterly's or ZeroRank's starting price for broadly comparable Perplexity coverage.
Promptwatch
Promptwatch's platform description names "ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI Search engines" with Perplexity, DeepSeek, AI Overviews, and Grok elsewhere on its pages, and its "AEO articles" feature turns citation data into content briefs. Essential starts at $95/month for one project, four models, and 50 prompts; Professional ($245/month) and Business ($579/month) raise those limits. Best for: a content team that wants Perplexity citation patterns to directly shape what gets published next. Honest limitation: Promptwatch's own pages are less explicit and consistent about its exact engine list than Ahrefs' or Otterly's, so confirm Perplexity's current scope before buying.
AthenaHQ
Perplexity is named among AthenaHQ's "11+ major AI platforms." The free Essential tier includes $25 of credit and 5 of those platforms, unspecified on the pricing page, so don't assume Perplexity is one of the free five without checking at signup. Starter, at $295/month (3,600 credits, one credit per tracked response), covers the full platform list including Perplexity. Best for: a team that wants Perplexity plus nearly every other engine in one paid subscription. Honest limitation: $295/month is steep if Perplexity is genuinely your only priority engine.
Peec AI
Peec's homepage copy describes analyzing "brand performance across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini," while its technical documentation separately names ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot as the platforms covered by its browser-automation approach. The two pages don't line up perfectly, so Perplexity coverage is confirmed by marketing copy but not spelled out in the same technical doc that explains the logged-out scraping method, worth a direct question before buying if Perplexity specifically is your priority. Pricing (Starter, Pro, Advanced, Enterprise tiers named, no dollar amounts published) requires a demo. Best for: a team that wants Perplexity tracking to reflect a real logged-out visitor's experience rather than an API's version of it, once you've confirmed current scope. Honest limitation: inconsistent public documentation on exactly which engines are covered, plus no published pricing.
Scrunch AI
Scrunch (scrunch.com) names Perplexity among the "major AI surfaces" it monitors for cross-LLM citation analysis, alongside ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot, with a 7-day free trial and demo-gated pricing beyond that. Best for: a team that wants to compare how Perplexity's citation behavior differs from other engines before committing to a contract. Honest limitation: no public price to compare against the rest of this table.
Profound
Profound's free 7-day trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews only, not Perplexity. Perplexity appears at the Enterprise tier alongside Copilot, Claude, DeepSeek, and Exa Search, custom-priced and built for larger brand teams with SSO/SAML requirements. Best for: an enterprise buyer already committing to Profound who wants Perplexity folded into the same contract. Honest limitation: no self-serve path to Perplexity tracking here, enterprise sales only.
How to check Perplexity manually, no budget required
Open perplexity.ai in a logged-out session and run your prompt list in default search mode first, since that's what most buyers actually use and what most trackers mean by "Perplexity." Then run the same prompts in Academic or Writing focus mode if either is plausible for how your buyers would search, because the source pool changes and a brand that gets cited in default mode can disappear entirely in Academic mode, or the reverse. Separately, check Perplexity Discover for your category terms; being featured there is a different, more editorial kind of exposure than a citation inside a search answer, and it's worth tracking as its own category rather than lumping it in with "did Perplexity mention us." Run everything a handful of times across sessions, since answers vary, and log whether a numbered citation with a link appeared, not just whether your brand name showed up in the prose.
A note on ZeroRank's and AthenaHQ's position in this specific post: both are genuinely independent, newer entrants rather than established SEO suites adding an AI module, which is worth knowing if you're the kind of buyer who weighs vendor maturity. Neither is a bigger or smaller pick than Ahrefs or SE Ranking on merit alone here; they simply compete on flat, inclusive pricing against the add-on and tiered-engine structures the older platforms use, and for a Perplexity-only buyer that structural difference matters more than brand recognition.
FAQ
Is Perplexity's default mode the only one that matters?
For most brands, yes, it's the highest-volume surface and the one every tracker in this list defaults to. But if your buyers skew academic, technical, or research-heavy, Academic mode is worth checking separately, since its source pool is deliberately narrower and different.
Does Perplexity have a webmaster tool like Bing's AI Performance report?
Not that we found publicly as of this check. Unlike Microsoft's AI Performance report in Bing Webmaster Tools, Perplexity doesn't offer site owners a first-party citation dashboard, which is part of why third-party trackers matter more here than they do for Copilot.
How do I know if a click came from Perplexity?
Check your analytics referral reports for traffic from the perplexity.ai domain. It won't show up in Google Search Console, which only reports Google Search data, so this has to come from your own site analytics rather than any Google-owned reporting surface.
Which tool on this list is cheapest if Perplexity is genuinely my only priority?
Otterly's Lite plan at $25-29/month includes Perplexity in its core four engines with no add-on fee, and ZeroRank's $39/month Starter plan includes it among 17 engines at a similarly low entry price. Both beat the $89-199/month range of the more SEO-suite-oriented options for a Perplexity-only use case, and neither requires you to already be a customer of a larger platform the way SE Ranking's add-on or Ahrefs' Index effectively do.
Should I trust a tool whose marketing page and documentation list different engines?
Treat it as a flag to ask a direct question before buying, not a reason to rule the tool out automatically. Peec AI's case in this post, where the homepage and the technical docs name slightly different engine sets, is common enough across this category that it's worth confirming current scope with any vendor rather than assuming either page is exhaustive.
Does Perplexity's Discover feed count as a citation?
No, treat it separately. A citation is a numbered source inside a search answer, tied to a specific prompt someone typed. Discover is a feed of AI-generated summary articles that Perplexity publishes on its own, closer in spirit to being covered by a trade publication than to being cited in a search result, and none of the trackers in this roundup specifically distinguish the two in their public marketing copy, so don't assume a "Perplexity mention" metric from any of these tools already separates search citations from Discover coverage unless the vendor tells you otherwise.
