Claude is the odd one out in this four-post series, and the tools that track it are thinner on the ground because of it. Claude's consumer app doesn't run ads, doesn't have the search-engine-scale usage ChatGPT or Perplexity get credit for, and its citation behavior depends on whether web search actually fired for a given answer, a toggleable feature rather than something that's always on. That makes Claude tracking a smaller, pricier corner of the AI-visibility market, and several tools that confidently track ChatGPT or Perplexity either skip Claude entirely or gate it behind an enterprise tier.

This post only lists tools that confirm Claude coverage on their own site or docs. If you're starting from scratch on Claude specifically, our how to get cited by Claude piece covers the tactics; this one covers what to use to measure whether they're working.

How we evaluated

Same six criteria as the rest of this series: confirmed Claude coverage by name on the vendor's own pricing or feature pages, which plan tier actually includes it, prompt or answer volume per plan, whether pricing is public, reporting and export depth, and API access. We're comparing documented claims and public pricing, not a private trial account with any of these vendors, and we flag anywhere a vendor's page named Claude without saying which tier gets it. We also skipped anything where Claude only showed up as a logo on a marketing page with no corresponding line in the pricing or feature documentation, since a logo wall isn't a confirmation of coverage, and this series only includes tools whose own site states plainly, in text, that Claude is tracked.

Why Claude tracking is a smaller category than ChatGPT tracking

Claude's web search is an explicit tool a developer turns on in an API call, or a toggle inside the consumer app, not an always-on feature baked into every response. Anthropic's own documentation is specific about this: Claude decides whether to search "based on the prompt," reaching for the web for "recent events, news, or announcements" or "current prices, rates, scores, or statistics," and answering directly from training knowledge for "established facts" or "creative writing." When it does search, citations are mandatory and automatic, Anthropic's docs state "citations are always enabled for web search," with each cited passage carrying a URL, title, and the specific text that was cited. That's a cleaner citation mechanic than some engines, but it also means a huge share of Claude's everyday answers never touch the web at all, so a tracking prompt has to be written in a way that's actually likely to trigger a search, not just phrased as a factual question Claude might already "know" the answer to from training.

That mechanic, search-as-opt-in-tool rather than always-on retrieval, is almost certainly why fewer vendors built dedicated Claude tracking first: the volume of citeable, trackable Claude answers for a given brand term is smaller than for an engine where every single query hits a retrieval layer.

It also changes what "collecting data on Claude" even means technically. A tool tracking Claude has to call the API with the web search tool explicitly turned on (Anthropic's docs show this as a tools parameter in the request, with versions like web_search_20250305 and newer ones adding dynamic filtering), or it has to simulate the consumer app's own search toggle. None of the vendors in this roundup publish the exact mechanics of how they call Claude, whether they're setting max_uses to force multiple search attempts per prompt, or what user_location values they're testing from. That's a gap worth asking about directly if you're evaluating two of these tools side by side and their Claude numbers disagree, since a tool that caps search attempts at one will undercount citations compared to one that allows several per prompt.

Region matters here too, in a way it's easy to overlook. Claude's web search tool accepts a user_location parameter (city, region, country, timezone) specifically so a search can be localized, and none of the vendor pages we checked say which countries they're testing from by default. If your buyers are concentrated outside the US, ask any vendor on this list whether their Claude prompts run from a US vantage point only, because that alone can change which sources Claude's search surfaces.

The tools

ZeroRank

Claude is one of the 17 engines ZeroRank queries directly and reads back raw, unmodeled, in the vendor's words: "nothing is inferred from search rankings or modelled from proxies." It's included at every tier with no Claude-specific surcharge. Pricing starts at $39/month (Starter, 2,400 AI answers analyzed monthly), moving to Growth at $199/month and Agency at $499/month, unlimited seats throughout. Best for: a team that wants Claude tracked the same way as every other engine, without negotiating an add-on. Honest limitation: it's a newer vendor than Ahrefs, so there's less third-party scrutiny yet of how closely its Claude answers match what a real user sees when web search is and isn't triggered.

Otterly.AI

Claude sits outside Otterly's core four engines (ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot) as a metered add-on, priced in a roughly $9-$439/month range depending on which plan you're on and which engine you're adding. That's a wide range, and the vendor's own pages don't spell out exactly where Claude lands inside it for a given tier, so get a specific number before committing if Claude is your main interest. Best for: a team whose primary tracking need is the core four and that wants the option to bolt on Claude occasionally rather than paying for it every month. Honest limitation: if Claude is actually your priority engine, paying an add-on fee on top of a base plan is a worse structure than a tool that includes Claude in the base price, like ZeroRank or Rankscale.

Promptwatch

Promptwatch lists Claude among its four tracked models, alongside ChatGPT, Gemini, and AI Overviews (a fifth, Grok, is sometimes mentioned too), with its "AEO articles" feature using citation data to brief what to publish next. Essential starts at $95/month for one project, four models, and 50 prompts; Professional ($245/month) and Business ($579/month) raise project and prompt limits. Best for: a content team that wants Claude citation patterns to directly inform what gets written next, not just a dashboard number. Honest limitation: 50 prompts on the entry tier is tight once you're running branded and comparison prompts for more than one market.

Rankscale

Rankscale includes Claude among "17+ AI engines" with a stated policy of "no per-engine upsell tiers," meaning the same engine list, including Claude, is available on every plan. Pro starts at $99/month, Pro+ at $229/month (adds REST API access), Growth at $385/month, Enterprise at $780/month, all credit-based. Best for: an agency that wants Claude guaranteed across every client account without a separate line-item negotiation. Honest limitation: $99/month for the entry tier is roughly three to four times Otterly's or ZeroRank's starting price for broadly comparable Claude coverage.

AthenaHQ

Claude is named among AthenaHQ's "11+ major AI platforms," alongside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI, and Mistral. The free Essential tier includes $25 of credit and 5 of those platforms, unspecified on the pricing page, so don't assume Claude is one of the free five without checking at signup. Starter, at $295/month (3,600 credits, one credit per tracked response), covers the full platform list including Claude. Best for: a team that wants Claude plus nearly every other engine in a single paid subscription. Honest limitation: $295/month is a big jump if Claude is genuinely your only priority; cheaper tools on this list cover it too.

Ahrefs Brand Radar

Ahrefs' own page states "All platforms (Claude available)" specifically for its AI Visibility Index tier, which starts at $199/month with 83 prompts/day and 2,500 checks/month, alongside ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot. The cheaper $50/month Custom Prompts add-on (free with Ahrefs Lite and up) is a different product built for adding your own prompts rather than the modeled Index dataset, and Ahrefs' page doesn't say whether Claude is included there too, so treat Claude as confirmed at the $199 tier and unconfirmed below it. Best for: an existing Ahrefs customer who wants Claude visibility next to data they already check daily. Honest limitation: $199/month, plus whatever an Ahrefs seat already costs, is a real commitment for Claude-specific tracking.

Scrunch AI

Scrunch (scrunch.com) names Claude among the "major AI surfaces" it monitors for cross-LLM citation analysis, alongside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Copilot, with a 7-day free trial and demo-gated pricing beyond that. Best for: a team that wants to compare how differently Claude cites sources versus other engines before signing a contract. Honest limitation: no public price means you can't line it up against this table without a sales call first.

Writesonic GEO

Writesonic names Claude among the 8 platforms its GEO product covers "across 50+ markets," but the $79/month Starter plan explicitly lists only "ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews." Claude most likely sits behind Basic ($199/month) or Growth ($399/month), but the pricing page doesn't say which tier turns it on, so this is one to confirm at signup rather than assume. Best for: a team that wants Claude tracking bundled with AI content generation, once you've confirmed which tier actually includes it. Honest limitation: Claude coverage at a specific price point is unconfirmed on the public pages we checked.

Profound

Profound's free 7-day trial tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews only. Claude, along with Perplexity, Copilot, DeepSeek, and Exa Search, is added at the Enterprise tier, custom-priced and built around SSO/SAML for larger teams. Best for: an enterprise buyer already committing to Profound for other engines who wants Claude in the same contract. Honest limitation: there's no self-serve path to Claude tracking here; it's enterprise sales or nothing.

Tools that don't cover Claude

SE Ranking's AI Search add-on tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Perplexity, with no Claude mention on the pages we checked. Am I On AI covers ChatGPT and Google AI Overview only. Peec AI's documentation and marketing pages name ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity, with no Claude mention anywhere we could find, which is worth flagging given how often Peec gets recommended in general AI-visibility roundups; it's simply not the right pick if Claude specifically is the engine you care about.

How to check Claude manually, no budget required

Open claude.ai in a logged-out session or a fresh account, since Claude's memory and project context can shape answers the same way ChatGPT's does. The detail unique to Claude: check whether web search is actually on for your session (it's a visible toggle in the consumer app) before you read anything into an answer that doesn't mention your brand, because an answer built entirely from training data was never going to cite a live source regardless of how well-optimized your site is. Phrase prompts in ways likely to trigger a search: ask about current options, recent comparisons, or anything time-sensitive, rather than a question Claude might answer confidently from memory alone. Run each prompt a handful of times across sessions, note whether a citation with a URL appeared (Anthropic's docs confirm citations are automatic whenever search fires), and track that over weeks rather than reading one good answer as a settled result.

FAQ

Why do so few tools track Claude compared to ChatGPT?

Claude's web search is a tool that gets invoked selectively rather than firing on every query, so there are fewer citeable, trackable answers to begin with, and several vendors built their first product around engines with higher consumer search volume before adding Claude later or gating it behind enterprise pricing.

Does Claude always cite sources when it searches?

According to Anthropic's own documentation, yes: "citations are always enabled for web search," with each cited passage including a URL, a title, and the specific text referenced. The open question for your brand isn't whether Claude cites when it searches, it's whether it searches at all for your prompts.

Can I track Claude for free?

Not meaningfully on an ongoing basis from any tool in this list. Profound's trial and several vendors' demo requests exist, but nothing here offers free, scheduled Claude tracking at real volume; the manual method above is the actual free option.

Is Claude's API the same thing as the claude.ai consumer app?

They share the same underlying models and the same web search tool, but the consumer app adds its own interface choices, memory, and defaults around when search triggers, so answers from the two can diverge even for an identical prompt.

What's the single most useful signal if I can only track one thing?

Whether a citation with a URL shows up at all, because that tells you search fired and Claude found something worth pointing to. A mention without a citation, when search clearly fired, points at Claude not finding your specific page in the result set it pulled, which is a different problem than Claude simply not searching.

Should I ask Claude itself whether it tracks my brand?

No, and this applies to every engine in this series, not just Claude. Asking a model to describe its own training data or internal reasoning about your brand produces a plausible-sounding answer that isn't grounded in anything verifiable, since the model doesn't have introspective access to its own weights or to logs of past answers it gave other users. Run the actual test prompts instead and read what comes back, rather than asking the model to self-report.
